Helias vs Blair Oaks (10-6-11)

The Helias volleyball teams traveled down Route B Thursday night to take on the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons. The freshmen B team won their match 25-8, 25-5 to improve to 13-0. Megan Villanueva had 18 service points including 9 aces, 5 assists and 2 kills, Ashley Tichelkamp had 7 service points and 3 kills, Regan Krummen had 5 assists and 4 service points, Rachel Wilson added 3 kills and Hannah Warren had 4 digs. The jv won their match 25-9, 25-16. Tory Wiley had 7 kills and 10 service points, Jordyn West added 12 service points, Laura Schieber had 11 service points and 6 digs and Erica Haslag contributed 4 kills. The jv record is now 20-3-1.

The varsity finished the sweep with a 25-20, 25-22 victory. Helias was able to slowly build a 17-11 lead in the first set and extend it to a lead of 23-16 before the Lady Falcons closed the gap to 20-23. The Lady Crusaders were then able to score two quick points to finish the set. The Lady Crusaders started the second set fast with leads of 7-2, 15-9 and 21-11. Blairs Oaks came storming back with a 7-0 run to get to within 17-21. The eventually pulled to within 22-23 before Helias got a side out and match point. Sidney Lammers had 15 assists, 12 service points and 2 kills, Brittney Engelbrecht had 8 assists, 6 digs, 5 service points and 4 kills, Haley Bax had 12 digs, 5 service points and 2 kills, Eli Sandbothe had 5 kills, 2 blocks and 4 service points, Krista Haslag added 8 kills and 3 blocks and Rachel Werner contributed 6 digs. The varsity record now stands at 17-2.

The jv and varsity will compete in the Lebanon Volleyfest on Sat., Oct. 8.
