The Helias Crusaders fell to Mexico Monday night by the score of 7-3 in 9 innings.  The Crusaders only recorded five hits.  Deion Hughes took the loss in relief of Bret Gerstner.  The loss drops Helias to 10-2 on the season.  JV was a 13-3 winner.  Next action is Tuesday at Marshall.

The Helias Crusaders beat the Moberly Spartans on Tuesday by the score of 10-0.  Deion Hughes pitched 5 2/3 innings to get the win, Chandler Wolf pitched the final 2/3  of an inning to wrap up the game.  The Crusaders collected 12 hits in the contest and now have 100 for the season.  The win moves the Crusaders record to 10-1, with their next action on Friday vs. Fulton, at Fulton 5:00.

The Helias Crusaders ran their season record to 8-1 with a 2nd place finish in the Capital City Invitational hosted by Jefferson City High School.  The Crusaders opened the tournament with a 8-7 victory over Rockwood Summit.  Deion Hughes picked up his second win of the season with five solid innings.  The Crusaders then moved to the semi-finals against Rockhurst.   Bret Gerstner led the way by throwing a complete game only giving up two runs on four hits in Helias' 3-2 victory.  Helias then met a solid Eureka team in the finals.  The Crusaders stranded 11 runners on base, with 8 of those runners being in scoring position.  The lack of timely hitting resulted in a 5-4, 8 inning loss.  Sophomore Chandler Wolf pitched six very good innings in relief and unfortunately was the tough luck loser.
